Le regard de l’autre est une installation qui conjugue projection vidéo, son et interactivité. Une jeune femme fait face à une chaise vide sur laquelle le spectateur est invité à s’asseoir.

Le regard de l’autre explore les émotions que nous cherchons inconsciemment à décoder et à stabiliser dans notre rapport à l’autre, ainsi que les dynamiques d’influence et d’incertitude qui existent entre les individus : elle pousse le spectateur à faire face à ses ressentis dans le contexte d’une conversation non verbale. L’œuvre parle de l’instabilité inhérente aux relations interpersonnelles et de notre réflexe instinctif d’interprétation du regard de l’autre.

À travers la Bourse de création en nouveaux médias pour artistes émergents de OBORO, Martine Frossard a pu poursuivre sa recherche autour de la notion d’individualité; la façon dont celle-ci se fragmente et se réinvente à travers les influences et les passages.

The Gaze is an installation that combines video, sound and interactivity. A young woman faces an empty chair, on which the viewer is invited to sit.

The Gaze explores the emotions that we unconsciously try to decode and normalize in our relation to others, as well as the dynamics of influence and uncertainty between individuals. The installation brings viewers face to face with their feelings in the context of a non-verbal conversation. The work speaks to the instability inherent in interpersonal relationships and to our instinctive desire to interpret the other’s gaze.

Thanks to the New Media Creation Grant for Young Artists, Martine Frossard was able to continue her research on the concept of individuality and on the way in which it gets fragmented and reinvented across time and experience.
